This is why you “hate” sales

I was supposed to be promoting my new program.

Instead… 

I just wanted to take a nap.

You know, good ol' fashioned resistance.

I used to fight against it or try to power through. But these days, I do my damndest to turn toward it with reverence and curiosity ~ I know it has wisdom to share.

So that’s what I did.

I pushed back from my desk, took a few breaths into my belly, and asked my body...

What’s it like to feel you should be promoting?

My right hand reluctantly lifted into the air and started knocking on an imaginary door.

Knock, knock.

The house felt empty. Or worse, like someone was inside pretending they weren’t home.

Then I imagined the door swinging open.

My body tensed, pressure flooded in, and I felt an urgent need to explain why I was standing there.

Oof, gross. 

This is what promoting feels like? No wonder I want to take a nap. Everything in my system was saying nooo.

So I assured myself, “I won’t make you knock,” and with that, my body exhaled in relief, and I sank into the chair beneath me.

Then a new image emerged...

Me ~ bouncing around my house before a private client arrives ~ tending to all the little details with anticipation and care.

I LOVE that energy!

When someone has already said yes. When they trust the process and are willing to let me guide it.

Ahhhhhh...That’s what it's meant to feel like.

Not knocking and bracing. 

Tending and welcoming.

I knew exactly what to do next.

I turned to the shelf beside my desk and sorted through the clutter. Tossed old sticky notes. Organized the notebooks.

Then I folded the blankets into beautiful squares, fed the plants, and swept the floors. Lit a stick of my favorite incense.

I was in the exact energy my body had shown me to create.

I didn’t force myself to “do marketing.” I let my body show me what it already knows about sales:

• Tend the space ~ the energy matters

• Be clear about what happens inside

• Honor the courage it takes to enter

• Make the door easy to find

• Meet people there and welcome them in

That’s it.

The whole shift ~ from noticing resistance to integrating its wisdom ~ took less than an hour.

Way less time than muscling through some social media posts out of obligation.
